Can I claim the Tax back on goods bought in the United Kingdom?
The Tax Free Goods scheme is only open to persons travelling directly between the United Kingdom and NON EU countries, anyone leaving the United Kingdom and entering into an EU country i.e France etc cannot make a claim to have the tax refunded. For this reason there are no facilities at Eurotunnel or Dover Port or any other United Kingdom port that only provides transport into the EU. This scheme has only ever been applied to airports and those maritime ports that travel to destinations outside the EU.
