Eurocamp holidays offer an appealing combination of relaxation, adventure and family fun, in a range of locations across France. Eurocamp sites are great value and located in a variety of gorgeous areas, from coast to country. So what’s the best way to get to Eurocamp holidays from the LeShuttle terminal in Calais?

Driving from Calais to any of the numerous Eurocamp locations in France will take you through some wonderful scenery, wherever you’re headed.

In this guide we’ve picked some of the most beautiful areas in both Northern and Southern France where you’ll find Eurocamp parcs, plus suggested some routes to help you get there, to make planning your next Eurocamp holiday even easier.

What is Eurocamp?

Eurocamp sites really offer something special, especially if you’re looking for a low-cost self-catering holiday overseas with the family. Each Eurocamp site offers everything families need – a range of accommodation options, from tents to lodges, cabins to apartments – swimming pools, kids’ clubs, bars, restaurants, shops, on-site entertainment, sports facilities, as well as a complete range of standard campsite services.

It is the water parks that make Eurocamp holidays stand out – most of the bigger sites have one, and some even have Splash Parcs, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides and wave pools! You don’t need to bring your tent with you either – Eurocamp tents are pre-erected. Beds are usually supplied too, but check with the site before you travel if you need to bring your own bedding. It really is camping in comfort!

Along its central banks is the Loire Valley, sometimes referred to as ‘the garden of France’, an area of cultural importance thanks to its vineyards and chateaux that range from the medieval to late Renaissance periods. Cycling holidays are popular here, so you can take in all that scenery at your leisure.

Visit the Domaine de la Brèche campsite in Saumur, Loire for a trip to nearby Chinon to see a picturesque French fortress. The site is just over 5 hours’ drive from Calais via the A28. Eurocamp holiday sites in Southern France

Gascony & Gironde

Sunshine, history, sandy beaches, what’s not to love about this part of the Southwest coast of France? There are seaside villages to explore and local wines and cheeses to taste, especially in the popular city of Bordeaux.

Along this stretch of coast, Eurocamp parcs Le Soleil des Landes in Lit et Mixe and Le Ruisseau in Biarritz are both around a 10-hour drive from Calais. Le Ruisseau grants views of the Pyrenees mountains and Biarritz is a major surfing destination, with sweeping views of the Bay of Biscay.

Ardeche & Auvergne

This area of France will satisfy nature lovers with its mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakes. If you love activities in the great outdoors, it’s certainly the place to be as mountain biking, kayaking and hiking are all readily available. These regions are also known for the popular (and delicious) Cantal and Roquefort cheeses.

On the banks of the Ardèche river you’ll find Eurocamp’s Le Petit Bois, a park deep in the heart of secluded forests. Enjoy the simple charms of the parc’s swimming pool and the adrenaline rush of ziplining in the ancient woodlands. Another notable site in the Ardèche is Val de Cantobre. Both sites are around 10 hours’ drive from Calais.

French Riviera & Provence

Provence borders Italy and the Mediterranean Sea. It’s home to rolling vineyards, olive groves, pine forests and lavender fields. And south of this captivating place is the French Riviera, also known as the Côte d'Azur, home to glamorous towns such as Saint-Tropez and Cannes.

Staying in a Eurocamp site means you get to enjoy the luxury of holidaying in these stunning locations without the hefty price tag of most accommodation options. Both the Le Val de Durance and Côté Mer sites are well worth the 11-hour drive from Calais.

Languedoc-Roussillon

Running from Provence to the Pyrenees, this coastal region of southern France is probably best known for its vineyards. But there’s a lot more to discover on your Eurocamp holiday, including castles, the Pont du Gard and the Cévennes.

Domaine de la Yole Eurocamp in Valras-Plage, Languedoc offers easy access to the peaceful Canal du Midi and the region’s fabulous beaches. This site is ten hours from Calais by car.

The Cévennes mountain range is a great way to see southern France’s most incredible scenery. Featuring the GR70 Stevenson trail, a famous hiking route, and the Grotte des Demoisselles cave complex, the Cévennes has been a Unesco Biosphere Reserve since 1985.
