The definitive guide to Parc Bagatelle

Family fun is guaranteed at Park Bagatelle, a theme park less than an hour from Calais.

The Opal Coast’s very own theme park, Parc Bagatelle promises a packed day of family entertainment, just under an hour’s drive from the LeShuttle terminal at Calais.

Why visit Parc Bagatelle?

Whether making a splash (at the log flume), or a dash (for the rollercoasters), fun, laughter and smiles are certainly the order of the day at Parc Bagatelle. There’s always one on the face of ‘Baggy’, the park’s mascot, who you’ll see regularly around the park, meeting and greeting children. It may be the oldest theme park in France (opened in 1955), but Parc Bagatelle is young at heart. If you’ve got smaller children, then this park is a great idea for a day out – it’s on a less overwhelming scale than some of the bigger attractions, like Parc Astérix and Disneyland® Paris, but your money goes further here.

Where is Parc Bagatelle?

Parc Bagatelle is near the town of Merlimont, just 55 minutes drive from Calais. This coastal area of Hauts-de-France is known for its long sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and dunes, elegant seaside resorts like Le Touquet-Paris-Plage and Hardelot-Plage, quiet fishing villages and big skies. The Opal Coast is an ideal place to get away from it all, yet so close to home you can still see the cliffs of Dover!

Drive to Parc Bagatelle from Calais

Head straight down the A16 autoroute when you leave our terminal, following the signposts for Cap Blanc-Nez and Wissant. You’ll have to pay a small toll charge on this fastest route between Boulogne-sur-Mer and Berck, but you can avoid the toll by taking the D940 coast road.

Baggy Show – Live entertainment and spectacular performances

Every day at Parc Bagatelle there is a spectacular immersive live show, full of magic, dance, music, acrobatics, poetry and illusion. In 2025 it was called ‘Revea’, a tale about a clown who goes to bed sad, but wakes up to a world where anything is possible. The show for 2026 is under wraps for now, but it will be guaranteed to entertain the whole family. The show takes place at 3pm and lasts for 30 minutes.

Baggy Fun – Thrill rides and adventures for older kids and adults

Parc Bagatelle boasts more than its fair share of rollercoasters and rides for adrenaline fans. Experience near 4G forces on Silver Wings, a ride that will throw you about like an acrobatic jet pilot, with loops, spins and dives, 8 metres up. Triops is the park’s rollercoaster. Triops takes brave souls at speeds of up to 50mph through 2 twists and a loop, and is accessible to anyone over 1metre 35cm tall. New for 2026 is North Storm, a swinging ride 33 metres high, which rotates through 360 degrees, and promises one of the park’s most intense experiences.

Baggy Family – Attractions everyone can enjoy together

Parc Bagatelle has a gentler pace than some theme parks, so families will find lots of rides and attractions where they can have fun together. There is a nostalgic feel about many of the rides – classics that young and old will love. How about cruising on a giant pink flamingo on the boating lake, courtesy of pedal power; a spin in a bumper car, a log flume ride with a family splash, or a ride around the theme park on one of the ‘Vélos Excentriques’? Kids can also meet friendly cows, horses, donkeys and goats at the ‘Les Petits Amis’ petting zoo.

Baggy Kids – Rides and play areas for toddlers and young children

The little ones will love their day at Parc Bagatelle! Take them on a traditional carousel and merry-go-round rides like ‘O’Galop’ and ‘Turtles’, climb aboard a caterpillar for a child-friendly coaster, or just mess around in the ball pool. Who doesn’t love a pootle on a mini steam train? All aboard the ‘Little Train’ for a ride around the park. Children must be accompanied by adults on some of these rides. All the rides have information about height access restrictions.
